Actress Alison Brie

On Dolly Parton, Binge-Watching, And Where To Eat In Paris

Alison Brie stole our hearts on Community, and we’re pretty sure she’s about to do it again on GLOW (premiering June 23 on Netflix). To say we’re excited to watch her new show would be an understatement. Female wrestlers in 80’s clothes and makeup? Yes, please. We sat down with Brie to talk about everything from the best restaurants in Paris, which five guests she’d have at her dream dinner, and of course the funniest thing that happened on the set. Read below for the full interview; it’s the perfect read to kick of your week…

From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?
I’d start my day with my usual apple with almond butter and white tea, then have a post-workout protein shake made with protein powder, spinach, and a scoop of coconut oil. Then I’d head to Go Get Em Tiger in LA for midday soft scrambled eggs with avocado and toast. For dinner, I’d have a hearty quinoa bowl with pan-seared salmon and a mix of roasted veggies topped with plenty of Sriracha, home-cooked by me.

Steven Spielberg’s Pentagon Papers Movie, Now ‘The Papers’, Adds Cast

Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Pat Healy, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford and Zach Woods have joined the cast for The Papers, the Steven Spielberg-directed movie about the Washington Post’s role in exposing the Pentagon Papers in 1971, and how the Post’s editor Ben Bradlee and publisher Kay Graham joined the New York Times in challenging the federal government over their right to publish them.

Production kicked off last week in New York on the fast track after Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep came aboard to play Bradlee and Kay Graham, and then Spielberg joined to direct Liz Hannah and Josh Singer’s script. Spielberg is producing with Amy Pascal and Kristie Macosko; Pascal’s Pascal Pictures originally acquired Hannah’s Black List script.

The movie will bow December 22 in select theaters in the heat of Oscar season and is set to go wide January 12.

The GLOW official trailer is here! Alison stars as Ruth Wilder, and the Netflix series will be available to stream on June 23.

Guts, glitter, glory… Are you ready to GLOW?

Inspired by the short-lived but beloved show from the 80s, GLOW tells the fictional story of Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles who finds one last chance for stardom when she’s thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women’s wrestling. In addition to working with 12 Hollywood misfits, Ruth also has to compete with Debbie Eagan (Betty Gilpin), a former soap actress who left the business to have a baby, only to be sucked back into work when her picture perfect life turns out not to be what it seems. At the wheel is Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron), a washed-up, B-movie director who now must lead this group of women on the journey to wrestling super stardom.

GLOW is executive produced by Liz Flahive (Homeland, Nurse Jackie), Carly Mensch (Orange is the New Black, Nurse Jackie), Jenji Kohan (Orange is the New Black, Weeds) and Tara Herrmann (Orange is the New Black).

The Little Hours red band trailer has been released! The film is set to be in theaters on June 30. The Little Hours also stars Dave Franco, Aubrey Plaza, Kate Micucci, John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon, Fred Armisen, and more.

Medieval nuns Alessandra (Alison Brie), Fernanda, and Ginevra lead a simple life in their convent. Their days are spent chafing at monastic routine, spying on one another, and berating the estate’s day laborer. After a particularly vicious insult session drives the peasant away, Father Tommasso brings on new hired hand Massetto, a virile young servant forced into hiding by his angry lord. Introduced to the sisters as a deaf-mute to discourage temptation, Massetto struggles to maintain his cover as the repressed nunnery erupts in a whirlwind of pansexual horniness, substance abuse, and wicked revelry.
