“Community” actress Alison Brie is in talks to star in the New Line comedy “How to Be Single.”

Lily Collins is also on board with Christian Ditter directing.

Based on the Liz Tuccillo novel, the story centers on a woman living in New York and searching for love. Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn have penned the adaptation, with Dana Fox working on the latest draft.

Michael Disco and Dave Neustadter are overseeing “How to Be Single” for New Line.

Best known for her TV work on “Mad Men” and the recently canceled “Community,” Brie has a handful of bigscreen projects coming out this next year. She co-stars in the Warner Bros. comedy “Get Hard” opposite Will Ferrell and indie “Sleeping With Other People” with Jason Sudeikis.

There is a glimmer of hope that there could be a sixth season of cult comedy series Community. I have learned that Hulu is in talks with Community producer Sony Pictures TV for more original installments of the show, which was cancelled by NBC earlier this month.

Sources stress that conversations are preliminary and is unclear whether they would lead to a deal, but I hear there is will on both sides. That includes Community creator Dan Harmon, who confessed on his blog that he had warmed up to the possibility of continuing the show elsewhere, changing his stance from “eh” when Sony TV called him with the news of the series’ cancellation by NBC to “sure, let’s talk” two days later. Said Harmon, “I’m not going to be the guy that re-cancels cancelled Community.”

With its devoted following by a core group of passionate fans, Community is the type of show digital platforms crave. Complicating the series’ options is the fact that it has a digital syndication deal in place with Hulu, in addition to a cable off-network pact with Comedy Central. That makes Hulu a perfect home for the comedy as it is the kind of streaming service where a show like Community would do best and because it already carries the series’ library via an existing agreement with Sony.

Bringing in TV talent to poke fun at VIP celebrity culture seems to be boosting Smirnoff’s brand perception among US consumers. The Vodka maker’s latest ad campaign, ‘Exclusively for everybody’, has led more Americans aged 21+ – women in particular – to say that they would consider buying Smirnoff next time they’re purchasing vodka.

‘The Party’ kicked off in April, featuring Adam Scott and Alison Brie throwing a house party that includes a VIP area, a bouncer and a pretentious barman. The six 30-second spots tell the story of two friends planning and hosting a party while making fun of the elements that get in the way of a good time. A follow-up commercial, ‘The Ride Home’ shows Alison taking a limo to the house opposite with the message to ‘get home safely.’ The spots were directed by Russo Brothers, who were behind the TV shows Arrested Development and Captain America.

Smirnoff’s US brand director, Dan Kleinman, said the campaign aimed to bring a ‘fresh voice’ to vodka. “Smirnoff was created to be enjoyed by everyone, from Czars and Hollywood stars to you and your friends in the bar down the street. We want to celebrate that we’re there for good times, wherever and however they occur,” he said.
