“GLOW” Renewed For Season 2

Posted by Jess with 0 Comments

Exciting news! GLOW has been renewed by Netflix for season two!

‘GLOW’: Netflix Renews Women’s Wrestling Comedy For Season 2
Netflix has another keeper from Jenji Kohan on its hands. The Internet network has renewed new 1980s wrestling comedy GLOW for a 10-episode second season.

Kohan, who is behind one of Netflix’s signature series, Orange Is the New Black, executive produces GLOW, created/executive produced by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch.

Like Orange Is the New Black, GLOW, inspired by the short-lived but beloved show from the ’80s, has been a critical and pop culture hit. Set in 1985 Los Angeles, it follows Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), a struggling out-of-work actress as she auditions for, trains and eventually makes TV’s first women’s wrestling show.

Flahive and Mensch, who serve as showrunners, executive produce with Kohan and Tara Herrmann.

GLOW is the fourth Netflix comedy to debut in 2017 and get a second-season renewal. It joins One Day at a Time, Santa Clarita Diet and Dear White People. One 2017 Netflix comedy has been canceled, Girlboss.

Actress Alison Brie

On Dolly Parton, Binge-Watching, And Where To Eat In Paris

Alison Brie stole our hearts on Community, and we’re pretty sure she’s about to do it again on GLOW (premiering June 23 on Netflix). To say we’re excited to watch her new show would be an understatement. Female wrestlers in 80’s clothes and makeup? Yes, please. We sat down with Brie to talk about everything from the best restaurants in Paris, which five guests she’d have at her dream dinner, and of course the funniest thing that happened on the set. Read below for the full interview; it’s the perfect read to kick of your week…

From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?
I’d start my day with my usual apple with almond butter and white tea, then have a post-workout protein shake made with protein powder, spinach, and a scoop of coconut oil. Then I’d head to Go Get Em Tiger in LA for midday soft scrambled eggs with avocado and toast. For dinner, I’d have a hearty quinoa bowl with pan-seared salmon and a mix of roasted veggies topped with plenty of Sriracha, home-cooked by me.

Steven Spielberg’s Pentagon Papers Movie, Now ‘The Papers’, Adds Cast

Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Pat Healy, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford and Zach Woods have joined the cast for The Papers, the Steven Spielberg-directed movie about the Washington Post’s role in exposing the Pentagon Papers in 1971, and how the Post’s editor Ben Bradlee and publisher Kay Graham joined the New York Times in challenging the federal government over their right to publish them.

Production kicked off last week in New York on the fast track after Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep came aboard to play Bradlee and Kay Graham, and then Spielberg joined to direct Liz Hannah and Josh Singer’s script. Spielberg is producing with Amy Pascal and Kristie Macosko; Pascal’s Pascal Pictures originally acquired Hannah’s Black List script.

The movie will bow December 22 in select theaters in the heat of Oscar season and is set to go wide January 12.

Alison Is Married!

Posted by Jess with 0 Comments

Congratulations to Alison and Dave! Reps confirmed to People that they are now married.

Dave Franco and Alison Brie Are Married!

Dave Franco and Alison Brie have officially tied the knot.

Reps for the actors confirm exclusively to PEOPLE that the couple is now married.

Franco, 31, and Brie, 34, — who met at the 2011 Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans — announced their engagement in August 2015 after more than three years of dating.

PEOPLE exclusively confirmed that the actress’ one-of-a-kind engagement ring was the work of Southern California jewelry designer Irene Neuwirth. It’s a rose gold sparkler set with a rose-cut diamond and a diamond pave.

“I’m not very bridal, instinctually,” Brie, who next stars in Netflix’s GLOW out June 23rd, explained to Yahoo! Style last February. “Marriage never really interested me, I guess because I was very focused on my work. I wasn’t sure if I really saw the point to it. I bought a dress on Net-a-Porter, and I’m like, ‘Maybe I’ll wear that.’”

As for what changed her mind about marriage, she explained: “I just met that person that I was like, ‘Well, I’m really in love with you and would like to grow old with you.’ I actually think it’s much more romantic when two people are like, ‘Oh, I could go either way on marriage, but I want to marry you.’”

Alison Joins “Dr. Ken” Season Finale

Posted by Jess with 0 Comments

Exciting news for Community fans! Alison will guest star as herself on Ken Jeong’s show, Dr. Ken. Not exactly a Community reunion, however, it is always great having the cast reunite.

Alison Brie Joins ‘Community’ Reunion On ‘Dr. Ken’ Season Finale

The Community reunion on the season finale of ABC’s Dr. Ken is growing.

Alison Brie is the latest Community alum set to guest star on the season finale, joining Dr. Ken star and former Community regular Ken Jeong and Community creator Dan Harmon.

In Dr. Ken’s Season 2 finale titled “Ken’s Big Audition,” Brie will guest star as herself, an actress just cast as a series regular on Harmon’s new sitcom. Alison reads with Ken (Jeong) during his audition, and is soon uncomfortable with Ken’s bold acting choices. As previously announced, Harmon plays himself, the creator of a new TV comedy set at a community college.

Brie joins a long list of Jeong’s Community co-stars that have appeared on Dr. Ken including Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash, Gillian Jacobs & Yvette Nicole Brown. Jonathan Banks’ is also appearing in this week’s episode airing on Friday.

The Dr. Ken season finale is slated to air Friday, March 31.

Brie is repped by WME & Rise Management.
